Placement check

A 30-minute check on the math the cohort builds on. It isn't a rejection filter; it makes sure everyone can move at research pace from week one.

30 questions, 30 minutes.

Multiple choice, no calculator, no partial credit. Everyone gets a different set of questions, in a different order, with the options shuffled.

  • One attempt per email address. We'll email you a 6-digit code to verify it.
  • The 30-minute timer starts when you verify and keeps running until you submit. When time runs out, your saved answers are submitted automatically.
  • Your answers save as you go. If you close the tab or lose your connection, come back, verify with a new code, and pick up where you left off. You can resume at most 3 times.
  • Your camera must stay on. A face-tracking model runs only in your browser to notice when you look away from the screen, leave the frame, or someone else appears. No video or images are recorded or sent; we keep only how many times each happened, alongside your score. For under-18s, the camera check and window tracking are switched off.
  • Copying, right-click and printing are disabled during the test, and the questions are hidden whenever you switch away from this window or press a screenshot shortcut. We record how often either happens.
  • After you submit, you'll see your score by topic, and we'll email it to you. Questions and answers aren't shown.
